Hi,
I am looking for a list of motorcycles that came with separate transmissions (like Royal Enfield, Early Triumph, etc.) Did any fairly recent bikes come this way other than the Enfields? I want to substitute a diesel engine in a bike and this seems like the best way, but Enfields are few and far between around my area!

Not many non-unit powerplants made these days, mostly for packaging reasons, I think. There's the standard H-D big twin, and a few of the big Japanese V-twin cruisers use them if I remember correctly, but exactly which ones, I'm not sure. You will be looking for something off a cruiser, something long and low, that will have enough real estate in the frame hoops to accept a longer non-unit engine. Or like you mentioned, something from the 50's or 60's.
