Work has begun

#1 Unread post by XJRJohn » Wed Oct 04, 2006 4:57 am

Ive finally started work on one of my many projects. Not what i originally intented either.I have an old honda superdream ,That was going to be done up has a winter hack.We got a bit carried away. From starting out as a basic commuter bike its ended up somewhere between max max meets head on crash. Not even sure we can get it road legal but its worth a try.Attacked the back end with an angle grinder(My favorite cusotmizing tool). The front end comes off a cx500(And the tank). And if it can be made to fit the exhaust is off a kwak 636.And its black, very black.as soon as i can get hold of a camers ill see if i dare post pics.Pretty it aint, but its fun.xjrjohn

Actually that could end up being tomorrow - want me to bring the camera with me??? :)

I madew it over to XJRJohns last night and discovered he is hiding this at the back of the garage...

Image

It's so hideous I love it... mmm angle grinder, angle grinder...

Image

Thinking about it hiding might be the wrong word to use...

Image

John says it's not quite done yet...

Image

Fear the angle grinder of rightousness for it sheers off the ends of unnessaercary framework!

Image

John disavowing any responcibility...

James tapped me up for transporting the motor for you, if your having it. Must say it looks interesting, will have to come and see it in the flesh.

I'm not using that motor anytime soon, to be honest I'm not sure how much it needs to bring it back to life...
Image
It is a bit of a barn find
Image
I need to figure out how to get it past herself but it shouldn't be a problem! :)
Image
I need a some 'help' making the supporting brackets for the sissybar and I was wondering if I could hijack your radiator surrounds if you've not got plans for them.

As far as I was told it came out of a running superdream and I've never taken it apart. However it did live in the bike pit at ours with the ivy as a rainguard.

That'd be cool, saves me taking the radiator up to him in a rucksack :) Even if he dosn't answer his phone or reply to queries on his Live journal!

A) I was asleep when you phoned.
B) The specific details required to answer the querie on LJ are not something which I wish for everyone to know.

Should be able to come up at the weekend, if thats ok.

Shock horror,The beast lives. We have actually ridden the thing. Not far as its a long way from being finished. It still has the 250 motor in it and the original exhaust.,But these might stay till we m.o.t it.Just a few jobs to do,Like brakes would be useful, rear lights and indicators. We might get it on the road yet.xjrjohn

I am seriously considering leaving that motor as it is,Just work on the internals and get it running. It turns over quite nicely.xjrjohn
