Crash, boom, bang...

#1 Unread post by Mintbread »

Ever noticed that you tend to crash when you are doing something silly?

I had finished delivering my mail today and was off to a shady spot for a bit of a rest before I went back to the delivery centre.
There is a nice bit of new hotmix bitumen to play with on the way so I was working on grinding off my pegs when the front wheel momentarily dropped into the gutter and I lowsided. I rode the damn thing all the way into the ground thinking I could save it until it was sliding along on its side and so was I.

I hurt my neck looking around so fast to see if anyone had seen me, but thankfully my stack went relatively unnoticed.

A broken front brake lever was all the damage the bike sustained and I scored some lovely gravel rash on my arm for my efforts.

thats why if I need to do something on my bike I pull over and do it rather than trying to do it while doing 65 down the road. With tricks its not worth my time or advantage to do it. I mean honestly what does doing tricks gain other than humility and lots o bills someday? Some people make $$$ at it eventually but they practice for years.

I was told years ago there are only 2 types of bikers, those that have been down and those who will be going down.
I found if I learned something from it, it was less likely to happen again.

Glad your Ok, you can always fix the bike...or buy another! :)

Awww Minty, glad you're okay.

Was this incident anywhere near that satellite/picture area you showed us last time where your other "issues" occurred?
Ya right, there are only 2 kinds of bikes: It's a Ninja... look that one's a Harley... oh there's a Ninja... Harley...Ninja...

Glad your injuries aren't worse!

Glad you're alright! I know the feeling though, crashed my mountain bike screwing around right in front of my high school, going about 15 MPH, and of course right in front of the girl I liked at the time... Anyway, glad you and the bike are alright!

Hey Mintbread,
Ouch! Glad you are OK. Was that an "on the job" injury? Jeez! Here, if you need a band-aid for a bad paper cut, Ya gotta fill out them forms in triplicate!! And then , there will be SAFETY meetings out the yazoo. Hope things are more simple there!
