NADA vs. KBB?

#1 Unread post by C-1_Biker »

Ok, basically my question is which gives the more accurate value for a used bike? I've been comparing between the two and NADA seems to consistently give lower prices.

What I don't get is why they don'y give you a private party value where you input the mileage like they do on a car.

Its simply what ever the local market will bear.

That's the issue with using more regional or national sources. Use your local papers and start before you really want to buy. You'll never find the exact bike to compare to but you will find similar bikes. Then you have a clue for your area.

I would imagine that the reason they don't give private party figures is that they have no releiable way to collect that data.

I would also recommend doing some Googling to find an Internet forum/group for the particular bike you're interested in and ask there what the price of a bike in xyz condition should be. They should also be able to give specifics on what to look for in buying that bike.

After googling through various motorcyle websites and comparing both kbb and nada, there is no clear view regarding who is more accurate. Both looks good for me, but the price statistics assumed by nada is fairly low.

Wow, necro-thread!!

But the question is still relevant. I don't find either service particularly accurate. I have a bike that's been for sale for awhile, at a price significantly below KBB's estimate, and well.... it's still here in my garage.
