I was 21 when I bought my first street bike.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

I got my first dirt bike when I was 11. I stopped riding after I wrecked and couldn't afford to fix my bike when I was 16. I've always had the bug but it wasn't until last summer that I started doing something about it.

I got my first street bike at 16, but I've been riding in the dirt for a decade before that... crazy having a decade of experience with anything at 16.

Agreed, the poll doesn't go low enough. I think I was about 7 or 8 when I first started.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

First Ride

#7 Unread post by BugZ »

I started riding at age 16. I owned a motorcyle before I owned a car. I rode my little Suzuki 185 everywhere all through my high school years. I remember out on the freeway with that little bike throttled wide open and too young and dumb to realize that I had no business out on the freeway on that small of a bike. Those were the days. When I first got married, I bought a Yamaha XT 500 which was my main means of transportation for years. I would ride it to work in the middle of Jan in Utah. I worked night shift and one particularly cold morning when I came out of work and hopped on the bike to ride it home, it was so cold that my seat cracked in about 5 places. After I sold the Yamaha, I gave up riding for over 25 years before I recently got the urge to go bike looking again. My latest choice is the Suzuki M50. I really love the look and feel of that one. I am excited to get a new bike but for now I'm having a great time looking.

Took the MSF course at 50 years young. I started commuting to work in mid June of last year. That was two bikes and 10,500 miles ago! Time flies when you're having fun!!

Well it all started one night when I was drunk. I went home with this lady type that I wouldn't normally go home with. A week or so later is when it started to ....

Ohhhh! You mean the motorcycle riding itch. I got the itch when I was young but didn't start riding until I was 33.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?
