Something I didn't know, re: HOV lanes
Something I didn't know, re: HOV lanes
Apparently motorcycles can use any HOV lane in the country, as long as the highway receives federal funding. See 23USC102.
I am curious as to whether this means any motorcycle, or only while riding two-up. I'd be inclined to think any bike, but I'd hate to get a ticket for being wrong.
This new to anyone else, or am I just repeating old news?

Don't know about your part of the world, but thanks to the lobbying of the BCCOM, I am allowed to ride in most HOV lanes solo....love it when I blast down the HOV lane of highway 17 pass two lanes of cages lined up for mile and crawling along at 10 MPH.mgdavis wrote:Apparently motorcycles can use any HOV lane in the country, as long as the highway receives federal funding. Same here in AZ, Bikes one up are fine in the HOV, it's on every sign and signs are every third lightpost, which are every 1/8th of a mile, needless to say it's hyped here... lol

hmm time to google cause I have no clue what an HOV lane is.
*edit
ok now that i know what they are only 1 exists in michigan and its no where close to where I live. What I am curious about is the 1 in michigan says its no longer active. I cant find info on what that exactly means but I am assuming it means it is no longer used as an HOV lane and is illegal to use it?????

Re: Something I didn't know, re: HOV lanes
The one passing right through Vancouver rocks for getting past the miles of parked cars that constitues "traffic" on our west coast. Farther east however the park lane seems to pass for the low-occupancy-two-wheeled traffic lane. Not that I am condoning that type of behavior.....ceemes wrote:Don't know about your part of the world, but thanks to the lobbying of the BCCOM, I am allowed to ride in most HOV lanes solo....love it when I blast down the HOV lane of highway 17 pass two lanes of cages lined up for mile and crawling along at 10 MPH.

It's quite possible it means that it is just a regular driving lane now.ofblong wrote:hmm time to google cause I have no clue what an HOV lane is.
