Jackets: Mesh vs other material
Jackets: Mesh vs other material
I live in middle Georgia and do not usually have extreme weather. I was wondering if I should purchase a mesh jacket or go for leather or textile. I would really like to get the Joe Rocket Reactor 2.0, and am curious to know how durable the material is and how warm it would be on chilly days. It comes with a waterproof liner that may cut out some wind but not really add much in the ways of warmth. Also, is there a problem with the mesh unravelling? I don't want to spend $180 on a jacket just to have it slowly waste away on me. Let me know what you think.

I have a First Gear Mesh that I've worn over the last two years. No weather protection at all, but that wasn't why I bought it.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Is the mesh stitching still fully intact or it is starting to unravel at all after 2 years?[/img]

Ive had my Joe Rocket mesh jacket for over 3 years and haven't had any unravelling. That being said, you will get the best protection from leather.
My buddy went down in his Joe Rocket jacket and still got rash on his forearms where the armor shifted.

I have an Icon mesh jacket that is a lifesaver in the summer. It's like wearing a t-shirt, so keeps me from going out in just a t-shirt when it is hot

Don't think of it as a stop light. Think of it as a chance-to-show-off light.

I use the Cortech Magnum Air...leather with armor. It has perforations throughout the jacket to keep me cool in the summer and a zip in insulated liner for the winter. I rode to work almost all winter in this jacket and was fine. Whatever you buy don't purchase from leatherup.com. They've messed up my order both times I ordered from them and they don't like to deal with unhappy customers either.
