Caught some big juicy ones...

#1 Unread post by HeathersWheels »

I kept catching these big juicy ones on my faceshield. Each time I look over at Steve, riding without faceshield, I expect to see bug all over him. I dont see how he escapes this. I get pummeled each time we ride. My faceshield looks like a crime scene. Now Steve is laughing at me cause according to him... he's a chick magnet and I'm a bug magnet... whatev. At least I had my faceshield when I needed it. All in all we had a great little ride. We spent about an hour or so looping through the countryside. I just dont see how anyone can ride with out a faceshield. :?

I usually can dodge them, even though I do wear a full face helmet. Today I felt bad when I was riding up my favorite canyon road (which i actually got my apartment at the top of the road because of it) I was in awe of this beautiful blue and indigo butterfly. It didn't strike me that within a second and a half I'd have its wings flapping in the wind right smack dab in the middle of my face shield! Ugh... I still ate my lunch though

Interestingly, my full face helmet seems to attract ten times as many bugs as my half helmet.

Wonder why.

I agree. I've noticed that too. I think they see their reflection and fly towards it.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?

It's weird. In two months with the full-face helmet, I've caught a gigantic number of huge, squishy bugs that leave buckets of guts all over the face shield.

I've never gotten one juicy one while wearing sunglasses and the half helmet. I'll get the occasional gnat on the glasses, but that's it. I've never taken a bug to the face at all with the halfie.

This is all rather interesting. Maybe it has something to do with helmet colour?

Both of mine are matte black. The full face has a clear shield and, in the evenings, I wear clear riding glasses with my halfie.
