I can't decide.
If you get an 883c, the tank is 4.5 gallons and will definately last over 150 miles without hitting reserve (other 883 bikes are 3.3 gallons). I get about 60 miles to the gallon on the thing and have never filled up more than about 3.5 gallons at the station so I think even the 3.3 gallon xl models might have a range of 150 miles if you run it into reserve.
Riding long distances on the stock seat definately is not fun, but if you get a good aftermarket seat, you'll be fine.

Id say you should buy the Kawi.
The engine in the vulcan 500 is the same engine as in the ninja 500. My guess is it will be faster than the baby twins.
Cause 100 mph on the, uh, "baby twins" isn't fast enough.

100 mph is going to get a new rider in as much trouble on a 500 as on an 800. Quit talking crazy.jonnythan wrote:Speed is what every new rider needs!AZRider wrote:Your Avatar is

Well my first bike was the 01 equivalent to the C50, which is heavier than the S50, but has the same power. Personally I'd take the S50 out of that lineup because for one, it has less weight than some of the other ones there, it's shaft drive, I'll guarantee it'll outaccelerate the 883 plus it's liquid cooled which is nice on hot days when you're stuck in traffic!

The Vulcan 500 was rated quite highly for its price range on this site.

Wait, so you are saying the S50 should be removed because its lighter, faster, and liquid cooled. How is this bad for a beginner? The faster I see being a problem, but on an 800 cruiser selection, wouldnt the power bang for the buck be good? Or is it too powerful for a newbie compared to the other 800s? Also, how does shaft drive stack up? Ive heard belt is almost maintenance free, but it does have that huge metal container on the left side that looks ugly and cumbersome.Wrider wrote:Well my first bike was the 01 equivalent to the C50, which is heavier than the S50, but has the same power.
