decent audio in helmet?

#1 Unread post by tropicalhotdog »

Can anyone recommend a way of getting decent sound in a helmet for listening to music or news radio? I've been using Tork X2 helmet speakers, but frankly the quality of the audio is pretty horrible. I don't like wearing earbuds under the helmet when I ride - it's too isolating. Are the helmets with bluetooth systems any good for this?

Thanks Lion Lady. That looks exactly like what I need. Where do you keep the control box when you ride?

Two possibilities: under the seat (PITA in my opinion) and in a tankbag.

My BMW has a substatial alternator, so I've got my unit permanently mounted under the seat and bike powered. My XM Radio is mounted on my handlebars.

You could mount your Mp3 player or radio tuner the same. Autocom makes whatever connector you need to feed music to helmet.

I've got an older Autocom unit (Pro7 Sport).

Funny, I was taught in my lessons that you should not be listening with any sort of earphone. I would be afraid of not hearing a siren or a horn.

Helmet mounted speakers used for bike comm systems, etc, don't block out environmental noise. You can hear sirens, horns, and other cars just fine.

In many states, IN EAR speakers (ie earbuds, etc) are illegal, but dashboard or helmet speakers are okay.

I can still hear sirens, etc
