Hi viz vests: Cool? Dorky? Don't care?

I notice that more and more riders have been wearing reflective vests. I pulled into a gas station last weekend and there was a whole club of maybe a dozen riders wearing matching hi viz vests. A few years ago it seemed like I was the only dork who was wearing them (and yes, I DO think they look dorky, but I don't really care). Have they actually gotten - shock, horror - cool?

It may make them less "dorky" that they are required to ride on a military base. So when combat veteran Marines, Rangers, etc are donning them, the dork factor goes down.

Since I work for the military I wear mine when riding to work. I also wear it during all low visibility situations (including my rare night rides) and wish I could make myself keep it on all the time.

The "club" may have been a riding school?

My wife and I traditionally pegged the dork-o-meter before we started motorcyling. So I gotta admit, dorky riding gear is just kinda "us"!!!

Dorky as "fudge". That being said, I want this jacket:

If it's the same one I saw in the dealer, it's ALL reflective.

Doesn't matter if they're dorky or not...I wore one until I got my neon-blinding-yellow Olympia Air Glide jacket. And the next helmet I get will be a matching hi viz Scorpion. I may be a dork, but dangit you can SEE me!

I've been looking at that lately too. Really cool. Or not. But I know I'm a dork. Its my nature.

I've been noticing more vests out there lately as well.
