Chain drive bikes and what oil/lube you use

#1 Unread post by flw »

For those with a chain drive, what do you use to lube your chain.

I've used Motul chain wax which seems to attact grime. Owners Manual suggest straight SAE 90 weight.

This topic has the potential to turn into a war zone just like the ubiquitous "Dino vs Synthetic Oil" debates. :D

I'm looking to see what people use not what is the most superior lube. I'm just not that happy with what I use now.

Iured that, it's just that sometimes the most innocent questions can launch the rowdiest debates. :)

My only question is when will I grow up enough that I don't laugh every time I hear the word "lube".

I have this "Racing Lube" that comes in a cold spray can.

I used to use Bel-Ray and was very happy with it; the fact that it was white and goopy irritated the boyfriend (Service manager @ my dealership, who does all the service on my bikes that I can't), though, so I switched to Motul to make him happy.

Now that we've broken up (and he still has to do my service), I think I'll be switching back to Bel-Ray. :innoncent:

Can these chain lubes be purchased online? I don't find myself in a physical bike store often.

I did purchase spray racing lube like Brackstone, but I used it all up on my Ninja 250.

Of course... The B-King doesn't have a centerstand. So, right now I'm picturing me spray.... wipe... roll bike forward... spray... wipe.... roll bike forward...
