After Market Tach, anybody ?

#1 Unread post by Granpooba »

Has anybody installed or had installed an after market tachometer ?
I have V-Star 950 and I know that their are a few companies manufacturing tachs for the Yammies. Presently Baron and Cobra come to mind.

If anybody has one installed, what is your review/feedback ?
And ease of installation ?

Haven't bought one yet, but I'm going with Baron's 2 inch bullet tach with the brake reservoir mount.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ............ reservoir mount interests me.
Truthfully, I don't believe that I have even seen that one advertised.
What supplier is advertising it ?

Thank you for the info on Barons. I went to their site and viewed the tach's and mounts. I still have my eye on the tach that is being offered from Cobra. And they state it is made for the V-Star 950 and the installation instructions confirm it.

Mounted the new Cobra tach and had the dealer hook up the wiring.
From what I have seen thus far, I will love this tach.
Mounting is simple. Wiring is also very simple and I am sure that any motor head could hook it up. I could have done it myself, but being that my V-Star 950 is new and under warranty, I had the dealership do the wiring.
Took the mechanic all of 15 minutes to do the wiring. Fired it up and worked perfectly from minute one.
