Good night and good luck, Harry Hurt (RIP)

#1 Unread post by Skier »

The pioneer in motorcycle accident investigation, Harry Hurt, died of a heart attack on November 29th. The motorcycling community has lost a great human being.

In his honor, I have donated to the AMA's fund for a new, comprehensive motorcycle crash study. If you can, please take a buck or two, or more, out of your wallet and help carry on his legacy.

Wow. An incalculable number of riders' lives must've been directly or indirectly saved by the information gained through the Hurt Report, by Harry Hurt's writings, by the many magazine articles, online information, and books that cite the Hurt Report, and even by it's influence in the improved design of helmets and other safety gear.

RIP.

Wow, sorry to hear that news. I wish I could have met the man personally. From everything I have read about him he seemed like a good guy. All of us motorcyclists owe him a HUGE debt of gratitude wether they realize it or not. RIP Harry

I remember reading an interview with Hurt in the last year or so about that new study. Too bad he didn't live to see it get done. RIP.
