How fast is too fast ?

I know what my limits are, in 2007 I hit 285kph on my K1200s and experienced tunnel vision for the first time. I have subsequently been at 250 on a zx10 and reported 260 on a VFR with no effects. My GS does 230 flat out with the wind behind me. I am comfortable at those speeds but I was unsettled with the tunnel vision incident.

So how fast is too fast for you, note I asked for you and not in general, assuming the roads you are riding are capable of handling those speeds.

Don't know, never got there. My old 500 would break a little over 100 mph with my big butt on it given enough distance to get there. The bike handled fine and I felt comfortable but the ole girl just didn't have any more power to give me. So I don't know how fast is too fast for me. :?

I hit 215 mph on a modified busa on a runway in Arizona. I decided overall speed wasn't my limit.

My limit is when my centripetal force isn't enough for my centrifugal force. Stupid Virginia International Raceway.

I don't know the exact speed due to tire slip and not having gauges on the bike, but I've hit a theoretical 167 (rev limiter on a stock sprocket/tire 07 CBR600RR).
My goal is to hit 200 one day.

On my old 1982 Yamaha Seca 650R I did 170km/h once on a straight road and trust me, with 24+ year old suspension, it was too fast.

More modern bikes will make 170km/h seem too easy, the old ones, it is much tougher.

100mph is where I usually cut it off. Bike feels fine at that speed, but this is New Jersey here, so my brain starts doing the "what if" dance about the traffic - y'know, what if that car suddenly changes lanes in front of me, etc, etc. Not really any triple digit roads without traffic around here.

(p.s. above remark applies to the Trophy 1200 or V-Strom 1000. I'm not sure my Bonneville even goes 100.... :humm: )

Hmmm, I'm glad I've got a naked bike; built in speed limiter.

I've taken my bike to 170-180kph just to see how she feels. Bike's got no problems, but my chest really takes a pounding at that speed. No interest in doing it on a regular basis.

75 on expressway. Did it once last summer. I'm not ready for that yet if ever.

Short answer, I'd say 100 MPH is about my limit on the street, and I don't like going that fast for very long. With all those insane cagers, the potholes and the cops, forget it. Now a nice long runway would be pretty sweet, but the last time I tried my Tom Cruise impersonation the tower was not amused. My SV only does 135 so that's as fast as I could go on my bike anyway. I'd like to try 170 on a bike sometime just to say I did it. Anyone have a 'Busa I could borrow? ;)
