Who Builds the best bikes?

#1 Unread post by Markg1 »

I believe that these are the top 10 largest motorcycle manufactures starting with the largest. Place in order (1 being the best) which one you think builds the best motorcycles. Just curious what you all think.

1. Honda

2. Yamaha

3. Kawasaki

4. Harley-Davidson

5. Suzuki

6. BMW

7. Ducati

8. Triumph

9. Moto Laverda

10. Buell
Life may begin at 30 but it gets real interesting at 140!

Each one has something they do better than the others. Each manufacture builds their machines to meet different user needs and preferences. The real question is "what is the best bike for you?"
1984 Honda Magna 700, 1987 CBR1000F, 1991 Nighthawk 750, 1994 FZR600, and for the dirt 1995 KTM 300 EXC and finally a 1986 KX500

It may seem like nit picking but you need to define "best motorcycle" so the comparision is based on the exact same bases.

To me the best is a combination of the following:

1. Design and preproduction testing

2. Quality of its piece parts then its assemblies

3, Quality of the final assembly

4. Acceptable shipping methods since made for around the world.

5. Dealerships that are knowledgable in detail of the products

6. Dealers that are willing to put the customer first before, during and especially after the sale.

7. Sevice dept that treats the bikes as their own and the owners as thier brothers/sisters with pre-work written quotes prior to any work.

8. Items or area I forgot to mention.

The " best bike" in items 1 through 5 make little differnce if there are no dealers around or they don't seem to give a rip after the sale.

Top 10 largest? Moto Laverda? They don't exist any more. Neither does Buell for that matter. I suspect 2 or 3 of the top 10 largest motorcycle manufacturers are Chinese.

Like others said, best at what? Fastest? Most reliable? Best value for money?
