Mileage? Either I am not finding or seeing it but is there a mileage list or place to put ones miles to compare to other members, such as in the memberslist....

Good idea though That way I could have miles ridden on a bike and not miles ridden on a BMW (MOA) and miles ridden on a HD (HOG) added togeather plus miles put on other bikes as well.

The problem would be if Mike has room to ad this and time to set up and verify. (MOA lets you verify with a Notary)

I could start a thread or a forum for that... there is the TMW member blogs you could add your mileage to and keep track of your travels here. :D

What do you think?

I don't know if you belong to another forum, but if you look at the St-owners.com forum (got to be a member to see it) they have a pretty good set up. It lets you know where you rank etc. it's also annual.

I don't see how mileage matters. Some guys ride out on the hwy and love crossing the country. Others spend all day on 11 miles of road enjoying the sharp and aggressive turns. Does the guy with higher miles have the most varied experience or just the most amount of time in the saddle?

+1

Riding a bike isn't a contest, (unless of course you race for a living...) I put better than 14,00 kilometers on my Valk in one trip, what does that prove??? If someone wants to know how far I rode this year, ask. (For your info, it's only been about 9,000 kilometers this year so far.)

Well some do some don't. Some may have fun with it some may choose not too. Some may want to compete with it, some will choose not to. Some may want to compare, some will just want to look, but it may just get some people talking hopefully having fun.

The ride does matter. I can take my trail bike all afternoon (3-4 hours) put on less than 10 miles (only 2-3 if I take a fishing pole) and burn about 1 QT of fuel, or take the Gold Wing and in same time put on 150-200 miles and burn 5-6 Gal. Both doing quality (but quite different like apples and oranges) rides and both just as much fun. The big diff. being that with trail bike I am physically worn out at the end of an afternoon. With fuel prices I will be trail riding more.

I think having your own individual blog to keep track of your mileage is a good idea then as you won't "feel" like your in "competition" with other riders. You won't feel awkward (as slimcolo hinted to) if your only doing 10 miles or 200 miles of quality riding and reporting it.

BTW, Al, here are the TMW blogs forum: http://totalmotorcycle.com/BBS/viewforum.php?f=32
