fuel mileage

#103 Unread post by Ken »

Right now the bike is still new, I'm hoping for improvement but at 500 miles I've gotten anywhere between 37 and 55 miles per gallon. The 55 figure was 98% 5th gear run. The 37 about all city. Average otherwise is low 40's

2000 Kawasaki KL-250 Super Sherpa
2.7 gallon fuel tank
6 speed (5 and 6 gear over drive)
primary gearing is one tooth down

soft cruising below 50- 55mph I can get 124 mpg (speedo must lie)
normal throttle usage and around town I get 60 mpg
In the dirt, 1- 3 gears .... the world changes.. I run out of fuel!!! I only get about 27 mpg (speedo must lie)
