Beginner Motorcyclist Website......

#1 Unread post by Dragonhawk »

As any regulars on this board know, I made a webpage on my site for beginner motorcyclists that you can see here:
www.CaliforniaBikeNights.com/learn

Well, today, I got an awesome email from some woman named Val who is learning to ride and this is what she wrote:

my name is Vallarie and I just found your website about one hour ago. I have really been trying to understand the relationship between horsepower and engine size for motorcycles and I could not grasp it until I read your learn to ride section. This is exactly what I have been looking for and needed desperately to know and understand before I buy a motorcycle. I will be taking the Riders Edge Course in October and I am trying to learn all that I can before then. The chart that shows the different models and makes is absolutely the best. Every beginner needs to know these things before they walk into a dealership. Now I know what to look at and what to stay away from. Thank you most of all for making it so plain and simple and not using all those technical terms that are difficult to understand for the ordinary people like me. I do not just want to get on a bike and not know or understand as much as I can about it. I want to know what those specs mean, like displacement, wheelbase, torque, rpm’s, compression ratio, rake and track, bore stroke and etc. Some people tell me I should not be concerned about these things but that is the way I am about almost everything I buy. I want to understand how it operates. Thank you also for the other sites that you recommended and most of all Eric thank you for caring enough about those of us who do not know, but need to know. I am very grateful for your help.

BTW I am a Christian and I pray that Christ will continue to give you the wisdom, understanding and knowledge to be the best that you can be at what you do. I look forwards to learning more from you about motorcycles and motorcycle safety.

How cool is that?

I was very flattered and just wanted to share her kind words. With all the negativity that people tend to spew across the Internet, that was a lovely change of pace. It really made my day. Her response is quite a nice reward for my efforts.

You are welcome, Val. I'm happy to know the site is serving the purpose for which it was intended.

My page actually has 2 links back to this site.

One link to these TMW forums, and another to the Motorcycle Buyer's Guide page.

It's a good website but I doubt you'll get any action off it. If so, I have a lot to learn about motorcycles and women.
Down to cruise
