How was your first time?
How was your first time?
Riders...how was your first time on a bike?
How long did it take you to get a hang on it. Was it difficult for you?
Im just curious to hear about others times...I guess it makes me feel a little more confident about mine (when it comes up)

On the ninja, it was cake. Right from the start the bike and I clicked. The dirtbike... heh, that's a whole other story. I know I dumped it at least once that first day on it. Though it IS a dirtbike, it's bound to happen (I've been down in so many mud puddles i could make a pig blush ). Taken the MSF yet? They make sure it's easy for you. They start slow so everyone is on the same page, from the person who'd never been on a bike before that day, to the guy who'd been riding for 20 years but signed up with his son cause his kid didn't see the point... and still learned a lot. Go into it thinking "I can do this" and you will.

It was magical... she was a very willing and nubile young lady who was very eager to try it and we.... oh, wait... you meant my first BIKE ride, didn't you. Sorry.
Um, anyway... my "first time" riding a bike went pretty well, considering I was only 13 at the time. Had no idea how they worked, but after 10 minutes of instruction by my Dad's co-worker I was motoring down the back roads on a Honda XL 350 - and loving every minute of it! Took me another 6 years before I bought my own, but I took to it like a duck to water and, 25 years later, I'm still loving it!

Best thing you could ever do before getting a bike! Kudos to you, you'll learn how to ride properly and greatly increase your chances of survival out in the asphalt jungle. Experience comes with time, but the MSF course gives you everything you need to help ensure you'll live long enough to gain that experience.squall7 wrote:Ill be taking the MSF at the end of this month

Umm..... I'm still getting the hang of it. Probably a life-long process.squall7 wrote:Riders...how was your first time on a bike?

Almost dumped my V-strom on a tar snake in the parking lot last night. The difference from doing it as a noob is less of the heart-in-the-throat panic reaction...... it's happened before, I recognize it for what it is, and my brain just says, "hey! now cut that out!" to the bike...

I rode twice before taking the BRC. A friend showed me where the controls were and off we went. I was very nervous and clueless. Had no right being on a road. Lucky I didn't get hurt. After the course I was fine...confident, knew what to do and knew what I needed to practice.
Since then I have introduced several people to riding. But I would never suggest they go on a road until they have taken the course.
