(2007) Honda CBR 125r vs (2008) Kawasaki Ninja 250r
(2007) Honda CBR 125r vs (2008) Kawasaki Ninja 250r
Ok guys, I need some serious input here:
I've narrowed it down to these two choices for my first official bike; other bikes I've looked into were the suzuki gs500f, the kawasaki ninja 500, and the aprilia rs 125. The first two were too expensive insurance wise, and the aprilia, regardless of it being one of my favourite bike makes, is two stroke and I don't want more than I can handle for my first ride.
I've read a lot of good things about the cbr, and the way it stands I think I'm gonna go with the honda; the only thing that kind of bothers me is the fact that it's 125 cc. Not to mention, the 2008 ninja is a beautiful bike.
Which of the two would you guys pick and why?

Well, i'v never really studied the new CBR125R. Im guessing insurace is high on it because of the R, that usually means faster than..the norm. But, tell me different if insurance isn't that bad. I've sat on a 06 Ninja 250. and i think its soooo light, and comfortable. I'm guessing the new ninja is also as light. The new ninja looks JUST like the Ninja 650R. and i've sat on one of those, it wasnt the lightest tho. From lookin at them, the CBR looks KiCk-BuTt. I'd say its got some power

yea see the ninja was my original choice, but for some reason the only kawasaki location around me sells it for close to $5000, where as the CBR is sold new for $3399
yea the ninja, cosmetically, is amazing and I think it's the perfect cc...I have to confirm on the price, otherwise I'd go kawasaki hands down

I had the same question as you when I bought my bike back in the spring of this year. The Ninja new in May was over $6k and it wasn't the new styling that's offered, while the 125 was $3400, had many more bells and whisles and was much cheaper.
So I went with the 125 and love it...I guess it depends on how you feel on a bike. I'm certainly keeping it for next year and maybe the year after. I got my licence in May and I still have lots to learn. I've had many close calls and I'm sure on a bigger bike, I would have dumped it. It's so lite and easy to handle. At the dealer where i bought mine - 2 other 125 were traded in about two weeks after they got it... those drivers went for a 500 instead.
Did you decide yet?

Insurance on a 125 is next to nothing. I can't remember exactly, but it's well under $400 a year using State Farm multiline. Let me know if you want the exact number.SBK15 wrote:Well, i'v never really studied the new CBR125R.
