I like the jeans. I wear them every ride. They are warmer because of the kevlar so if you live in a cooler climate they'll be nice. If you're in a warmer climate, you'll get, well, you'll get hot.
Do they make a bootcut version? I wear bootcut jeans.

Yeah, these are boot cut. I insist on boot cut in my jeans as well.

I always liked "highwaters" when I ride and walk, it's more comical that way especially if I'm wearing all black with white socks and thick rimmed glasses when I walk into a deli.
