How much was too tall? You can buy $50 lowering links and drop it 1-1.5 inches until you get comfy with her.

I could touch the ground with the toes of both feet, but that's it. I was wearing shoes, so boots would make a difference. Lowering by 1-1.5 inches would probably make it much more comfortable. I've also heard that changing out the seat can make a big difference. How does it compare with the DR650? Sat on the Honda CB500x today. Very nice, but thinking the dual sport would be better for me right now.

It's a better bike than the DR. The DR is reliable but it's a pig with less accessory/rider support.
