Dropping the bike in MSF...

#1 Unread post by nike_soccer » Wed Nov 23, 2005 5:19 pm

...from exsessive braking. How does that happen? The lack of speed make the bike lose it's center gravity and the driver flies off? I can't picture it. Can someone please explain so I don't do it on my MSF course.

There are a lot of ways this can happen, usually it's the result of the back tire moving forward faster then the front one...
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Well, if you brake in a turn without straightening out before braking you will most likely fall right over to the side. :bye:

That's how it happened to folks in my class. Good thing they were only going 15 mphs

i know one guy in my class was doing the slow speed turns, and he grabbed the front bake thru the middle of it...he fell. that was after they told us to never use the front brake while slow turning...such as the figure eight, use only the back brake.

another guy locked out his front tire on a quick stop, then accidentally rolled on the throttle...the bike jumped a little, then fell on top of him.
