YES!!!!

Finally a day with no threat of freezing conditions. Rode into work today and it was wonderful! I'm hoping our days of frost and snow are finally at an end so that I can start riding steady again.

Now I need to get it all clean and shiny again. Got a bit of surface rust on the exhaust and a couple other places to take care of. Also need to get it inspected and registered this month. I was thinking it was next month until I looked at my registration sticker today... oops!

Good to hear the weather is turning. It has been getting better for us too. And none too soon, we wer starting to turn on each other like a pack of rabid wolves lol

Your paperwork sounds like we're doing here too. There's always "one more thing" to do it seems instead of just being able to go and chill on a ride :hobbyhorse:

PA requires the bike be inspected and registered every year. Not a bad thing but, definitely annoying....

Finally got the ride all cleaned up. Still need to work on some "nooks and crannies" with the pimp stixx.

The ride home was a bit teeth chattering at 30'ish degrees F but, not horrible. Wouldn't have wanted to ride much further than the 25 miles home though.

Looking good the rest of the weekend. Going to head out tomorrow mid-morning and hopefully hook up with some other locals for some afternoon riding.

What a great weekend!!! Put around 100 miles on between yesterday and today. I'm off for three more days but, it's supposed to start raining tomorrow evening. I don't mind riding in the rain to work or for a PGR mission but, I don't especially like "joyriding" in it. Have to see how it goes I guess.

I thought I must have wrecked on the way to a family party and was in a coma or something. My cousin was telling me that he's selling his Harley and wanted me to pass the word around when my mother (VERY Anti-bike) says to my dad, "There you go honey! You could by Bobby's motorcycle."

Who are you and what have you done with my mother??? Talked to her later and she said, "Well, you've been having so much fun and your dad has been talking about you being on the bike a lot. I think it might be kind of fun if we got one of those big bikes with a nice seat for me to ride behind him."

Talked to my dad later on about Full Dressers and what they cost brand new, the MSF course, etc, etc. I know him. He won't buy a new bike but, WOW. I could actually be riding with my dad sometime in the future. Very cool!

Now I just need to convince my wife she needs to ride my S50 so I can buy something else....

*ouch!!* Sorry, recovering from a slap in the back of the head. What was I talking about a minute ago?

Wow, what a nice week. Rode to work 4 days this week (did a bunch of OT), rode to get my bike inspected and the oil changed and, I'm ending the week today at the Erie County PA Chapter of ABATE 13th Annual Jeremy Grant Motorcycle Awareness Rally!

We're leaving at 2 PM from The Valley Inn in McKean PA and riding to State Street in Erie with a BikePAC benefit at Scooters after the rally with refreshments and music! The guys I ride with said there were close to 700 bikes there two years ago and around 350 last year ((it was rainy and cold) **Numbers edited with ACTUAL bike numbers. The figures I was given orginally were magnified by 4**).

I'll take some pictures and get a link posted before Monday. If I don't speak with you, have a fun and safe weekend!

Pics from the Rally are posted;

13th Annual Jeremy Grant Motorcycle Awareness Rally

There were between 750 and 800 bikes there. Around 50% of them seemed to be Harley's of one type or another. All kinds of other brands were represented in the other half. The only BMW I saw all day was one of the guys from our Corry group. He was riding a 2004 BMW K1200. Probably the most unusual was a homemade trike. I was surprised by the number of ape hangers on newer Harley's. A handful of sportbikes were present which I think was a nice "change of color" so to speak. There were even a couple Indian's with sidecars. I didn't see them until they were leaving the final rally point and didn't get a good picture unfortunately. Definitely a lot of very nice paint jobs/art work on a few bikes.

All in all, it was a nice day. Not too hot. A little too windy. I had a good time. I'd probably do it again but, I wouldn't be sad to miss it. That many bikes trying to ride at one time was pretty nuts. One of the motorcycle cops at an intersection estimated our length at 3 to 4 miles long on the interstate.

Well, guess that's it for now. Hope you enjoy the pictures. I had to discard a bunch and you'll notice some odd shadowing at the corners of others because of a malfuntioning shutter on my camera. I didn't know it was messed up until we were reviewing the photos at lunch afterwards.

Have Fun and Stay Safe Out There!

Here's a link to pictures of the bikes at a PGR Welcome Home Mission. We were invited to attend a party for SPC Ken Sutters while he's home on leave from Iraq for two weeks. We rode approximately 200 miles round trip and spent a couple hours at the party speaking with Ken and his family. We ended up with 15 bikes at the ride including Ken's dad. I got pics of most of them.

Things got a bit interesting a few times yesterday thanks to the slick roads and a crazy squirrel....

On the way, our group of 6 out of Corry encountered a squirrel who felt like playing chicken. He jumped out of the lead bike's way barely missing the tire of bike number two. This caused both of them to brake with the remainder of us passing and braking in all directions.

While being escorted by the police to the party, one rider used to much rear brake and locked it up. He didn't go down and was able to get it under control but, luckily, we were running two lanes so there was plenty of room for him to skid between the bikes in front of him.

That event scared him a bit and I found myself catching him in a sharp turn. Glad I learned the "straighten then brake" manuever in MSF. Actually, I just straightened then took it onto the berm so the folks behind me didn't have to brake.

Lastly, while trying to stop for a light change, another of our group locked it up and had to pass through the light to keep from low siding. It was a "T" intersection with a vehicle on the right waiting for the light to change. I aimed the bike at him and started flashing my lights. He saw it and stopped and the rest of us headed on through the light.

Well, that's the end of the scary experiences. Plenty of them on this trip. And, here's the link to the pics as promised:

Welcome Home Pics

Hoping things slow down here at work so I can get my bike cleaned up. She's awefully dirty after yesterdays ride.

Have Fun and Stay Safe Out There!
