2014 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R ABS

Capitalising on the strengths of the highly competitive engine and chassis package of the 599cc model, the 2013 Ninja ZX-6R has increased the displacement to 636cc giving you more performance at all rpm and greater usability in everyday street riding. With the chassis settings focused on winding roads, the new Ninja ZX-6R is able to deliver more riding exhilaration from the track to the hills, on the highway and in the city...

Continuing the Family Tradition of Dominance

What’s in a number? Only everything. Six percent may not sound like much, but it is the displacement advantage the 2014 Ninja® ZX™-6R ABS supersport has over the rest of the 600cc class. This performance advantage began over a decade ago with the first 636, a revolutionary machine that blew-away the competition’s 600’s and won races against factory 750’s on the track. The 2014 ZX-6R ABS continues family tradition of racetrack dominance and unmatched street cred with its physical embodiment of the family slogan: Performance Counts!

The category shattering heritage, passed down through the bike’s DNA, resides in the 16-valve, long-stroke DOHC 636cc inline-four—the beating heart—of this champion and provides the riding experience demanded of a top-shelf middleweight powerplant. Torque rich and rev happy, the supremely powerful engine easily makes the transition from the track to everyday street use, bringing its broad spectrum of performance to everyone from street riders to canyon carvers to racetrack junkies, proving that power capable of dominating on the track can also be smooth enough for everyday use.

The key is the 636cc long-stroke engine. An additional 37cc of displacement compared to competing inline-fours makes a significant impact on real world riding. Increased performance throughout the rpm range is always welcome when racing or sport riding, but increased low- and mid-range torque also significantly enhances everyday usability. Thanks to this engine’s larger displacement, impressive performance is available throughout the entire powerband. Low-mid range torque is significantly stronger and the engine’s total “area under the power curve” grows substantially when compared to a mere 600cc.

I gave it a cool but it really could go to awesome easily any of the 600 rr bikes have all that is needed to make it a really fun bike. But they also have all that is needed to make it well, very dangerous. These bikes are not toys and just because they are a smaller displacement doesn't make em starter bikes!!!!!
there aint nothin like it

I still gave it a cool overall, but by the standards of an incredibly competent class of bike, it's more "meh" relative to every other 600cc supersport out there. Since these bikes are just so good, it takes something special to be truly awesome, whether its gorgeous design (the new midsize Panigale), a fantastic and characterful engine (like Triumph's triple), or innovative technology (maybe the traction control and adaptive suspensions from the 1000cc class of supersports?).

It is difficult for me to get excited about bikes like this anymore. Although I have had a couple of ZX6s in the past there is just not a lot to get my interest with this type of bike anymore. If I was going to buy a Supersport the open class machines are actually easier to ride with their torquier engines and slightly bigger size. Therefore I won't vote because its neither cool, nor uncool to me. Sure wish we had the "Meh" option that was mentioned by someone else in another vote....

Uncool. I don't see the point in owning a ZX-6R (or any supersport really) unless you have quick easy access to a racetrack or an airstrip. Riding one on public roads would be like ordering a prime rib, licking it once, then throwing it in the trash.

You live in CO but you don't see the point of owning a sportbike? lol

It's all about the canyons here!

Unfortunately due to the flooding and rain, a good portion of the fun roads are out for the rest of this year and probably most of next... 36, 62, 7, P2P, all washed out in spots.

It would be exceptionally difficult for me to enjoy a bike like this while still obeying traffic laws.

Think of them more as speed suggestions, not limits... Lol
