2014 Kawasaki Z1000 ABS

CALL OF THE WILD

Sculpted bodywork brings the aggressive and unique sugomi inspired Z design to the next level, stripping off all unnecessary flourishes to boldly highlight brutal functionality. Enhancing the riding impact, the new engine and chassis settings deliver a stiffer, more direct ride transforming the Z1000 into the market’s most radical Supernaked.

The "it" factor is hard to describe, but you always know it when you see it. Likewise, the new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 has a hard-to-define "streetfighter" style that is impactful enough to ensure everyone knows they're seeing something special. In a significant departure from the concealing bodywork of its sportbike predecessor, the new Z1000 strips-off unnecessary covers and bodywork to expose the superior functionality of its parts.

The Kawasaki Z design language has been elevated to a higher level with the new Z1000's "Sugomi" styling. From its seductively sculpted shapes invoking a crouching predator and painstaking details like its special "Z" logo ignition keys, machined aluminum steering stem bolt, and intricately textured "Z" motif seat cover, to the tighter tolerances of its high-quality components and bodywork, the dramatic result has a very special feel that helps set the stage for the excitement to follow!

For 2014, Kawasaki engineers concentrated on making the Z1000 more potent and capable than ever!

Thanks to montanalifter for suggesting (viewtopic.php?f=61&t=40774) to have the Z1000 on our Cool Wall this week!

Remember, as you can make any bike suggestions in our Suggest a Bike for our Cool Wall thread viewtopic.php?f=61&t=40774 and I'll put it up... (the only stipulation is we have to have that model/bike somewhere in our 1970-2015 model guide).

Not exactly the prettiest of the open-class nakeds/streetfighter/hyperstandards/whatever this category is called, but it still merits a solid cool.

Great bike but that headlight nacelle is just too odd and low to be cool......

I agree with you about the headlight. I wonder what it would look like with a round headlight that was in a more "standard" position or any headlight that wasn't so low.

Sorry, while I am 110% sure its a great bike to ride and all, I have to go with fail. First, its not a naked bike, with that belly pan, side panels by the radiator and that goofy headlight, its at best a semi-naked, its just missing its windshield that's all. All in all, a rather stupid looking machine....one you would enjoy riding until you accidentally catch a glimpse of yourself atop of in while looking at your reflection off of some office buildings window.

I was trying to figure out what exactly annoyed me about this bike. I think the side panels are it. Unscrewing the belly pan seems easy and harmless. But I assume the side panels are a lazy design way to hide even uglier pieces of plumbing.

Edit: No one's even mentioned the exhaust, but I guess most owners will replace it anyway.
