EBR introduces new 1190SX “Superfighter” sport bike...

Featuring the power and technology of a superbike, the EBR 1190SX is a true high-performance motorcycle with a racing heritage. Designed to be a dominating street machine, the 1190SX is equally at home carving canyons on the open road or taking on the concrete canyons of the city.

2015 EBR 1190SX http://www.Totalmotorcycle.com Key Features

Following the successful introduction of their 1190RX superbike, Erik Buell Racing has introduced the EBR 1190SX, a true naked streetfighter-style sport bike with uncompromised Superbike race-bred performance and handling.

Sharing the 1190RX’s V-Twin engine rated at 185 crankshaft horsepower and more than 100 lb.-ft. of torque, the new EBR 1190SX delivers the highest performance available in the streetfighter category. EBR founder and Chief Technical Officer Erik Buell is no stranger to streetfighter-style sport bikes, having defined the category with the introduction of the S1 Lightning in 1995. “The streetfighter classification, which was so revolutionary when we first came to market, is now being used by marketing people for all sorts of motorcycles, including some thinly-disguised standard bikes that have de-tuned or obsolete powertrains,” said Buell. “So, perhaps the appropriate new name for a bike like the 1190SX is, ‘Superfighter.’“

With much componentry carried over from the EBR 1190RX superbike, the 1190SX is a genuine high-performance motorcycle with a racing heritage. True to its “streetfighter” designation, however, the 1190SX is designed to be a dominating street machine. Featuring an athletic upright riding position and wider handlebars for nimble handling, and minimalist bodywork for lower weight, the 1190SX is equally at home carving canyons on the open road or taking on the concrete canyons of the city. As with all EBR sport bikes, the 1190SX features many Erik Buell signature innovations to optimize handling and performance, such as fuel in the frame for lower weight and centralized mass, hubless wheels and perimeter brake rotors for lower unsprung weight, and EBR’s proprietary Controlled Swirl Induction (CSI), which improves power and fuel economy, while lowering exhaust emissions.

The 1190SX is being introduced with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $16,995 and is available in white, red and black color schemes. Shipments to EBR dealers will begin in early July.

This week's cool wall bike is in honor of Erik Buell. Sadly, the 1190SX may be the last bike from EBR in quite a while.

I am a bit disappointed to see that someone voted a fail without explication. I am interested in why this bike is a fail.

Safe Travels,
Richard

Voted cool. American sportbike, lightweight lots of power. Not sure about the whine sound when letting off the gas. Check this video out I found on you tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA6NEwoWh3o

With all due respect to Erik Buell, this bike is too ugly for me. Looks like it was naked and then they glued a bunch of crap on it. It won't be a problem in Canada 'cuz they don't sell them here. Looks like they are a pretty good price for an American-made ride but I would rather ride a scoot than this. Uncool.

I voted Awesome.

It was a great idea the 1190SX, I was really hoping the SX would have been their first bike as it would have allowed many more riders into the EBR brand than their $40k first bike. The SX with 185hp and under 400lbs, EBR technology and uniqueness...what wasn't there to not like?

I feel not only bad for Erik, but for the SX as well... I guess it was too little too late. :(

I'm looking forward to what Erik does next, it must have been a horrible blow after the Buell experience...

Your Coolness Factor of the 2015 EBR 1190SX is:

Awesome (3 points) 30% [ 7 ]
Cool (2 points) 48% [ 11 ]
Uncool (1 point) 17% [ 4 ]
Fail (0 point) 4% [ 1 ]

Total votes: 23

= a Coolwall Factor of 68.1%

Notes: Sadly, the 1190SX marks the end of the line for EBR (Erik Buell Racing). Due to financial issues, EBR is no more. You have to give Erik credit for trying (again) to make American made sportbikes from the ground up. Maybe 3rd times the charm?

Get excited as the next TMW Cool Wall bike is now up for voting and discussion, have fun!
