The Z900 motorcycle epitomizes Kawasaki’s belief of what the ideal supernaked bike should be. Every twist of the throttle is rewarded with crisp, exhilarating acceleration and an ultra-lightweight chassis lends itself to spirited sport riding. Designed for maximum riding pleasure, this sublime balance of power and handling make the Z900 exceptionally exciting and easy to ride.

With a smooth powerband that becomes more exciting as the revs rise, a light and nimble chassis, and distinctive Sugomi-inspired styling, the Z900 continues the Kawasaki legacy of creating legendary 900cc-class machines whose performance surpasses that of many full liter-class motorcycles.

THE KAWASAKI NAKED MODEL RANGE RETURNS FOR MORE MILES OF EXCITEMENT
The Kawasaki family of naked motorcycles, the Z model range, returns for the 2018 model year. The lineup has received significant updates within the past two years of production, following major accolades from media and customers alike.

With premium suspension components and a powerful, smooth inline-four cylinder 948cc engine, the Z900 ABS motorcycle is the flagship of the Z family. The Z900 ABS, which received Motorcycle.com’s 2017 Best Standard Motorcycle of the Year award, is returning for 2018 in the following new colors: Pearl Mystic Gray/Metallic Flat Spark Black, Flat Ebony/Metallic Spark Black, and Candy Persimmon Red/Metallic Spark Black.

The Kawasaki Z650 ABS is a compact middleweight motorcycle, featuring aggressive, supernaked Z styling that comes to life with an ideal blend of sporty performance and everyday versatility. Since its introduction, the Z650 has received top ratings for its lightweight and easy to maneuver chassis and torquey 650cc parallel twin engine. It will be available for the 2018 model year in these new colors: Metallic Matte Covert Green/Metallic Flat Spark Black and Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Flat Spark Black. The latter paint option also features a bright green frame.

The Z125 PRO motorcycle is also returning in 2018 alongside its “big brothers” as a mid-year release with the following new paint options: Metallic Flat Spark Black/Pearl Mystic Gray/Metallic Spark Black, and Candy Persimmon Red. The compact (224.8 lbs curb weight) motorcycle features well balanced performance suspension and a 4-stroke, single-cylinder, 125cc air-cooled SOHC engine that pulls through the rev range. The Z125 PRO is a motorcycle designed for the fun of motorcycling for all riders.

Introducing the ALL NEW Kawasaski Z900. In fact, the entire Z line, (Z650, Z900 and Z1000) are all new this year which brings up the hard decision this week on which one to choose!

The Z650 is a couple thousand dollars cheaper than the Z900, but has 50% less power. The Z1000 is a lot more (+$4000-5000 more) but only offers a little more power; and the Z900 comes with ABS for +$500... so looking at things, the Z900 non-ABS was the "sweet spot"... I hope you agree... but feel free to disagree as well!

So, here you go, the new Z900...

Love it, leave it or hate on it.

Simply Awesome.
I can't even imagine what that 900cc must feel like. It's gotta be like getting shot out of a cannon. A big shiny grin inducing cannon that shoots through twisty canyons and sh*t. Love it. And with a 4.5 gallon tank, plenty of range to keep the smiles coming.

Arggggggggghhhh. Why can't they ever show a rider in the side view so
that the ride posture can be evaluated? My back won't tolerate a
'sports' ride for more than 10 minutes.

I saw one of these the other day. I think. Similar at least. I'd go awesome but I just couldn't wrap my head around that head light pod. Doesn't likes it. But still, it's under 10 grand. Lol. I'll cool vote it.

Awesome.

I sat on one last week and loved it. My nephew bought me a ZX-12R (used obviously) for my birthday so I can't really think about getting a new bike right now, but if I were, the Z900 would be on the very short list of bikes I would consider.

He is a great nephew, although I kid him that he only got it for me because I'm cheap insurance. I'll be sure to let him know about your birthday/Christmas gift, although he may be in debt after his last purchase (just kidding he's fine).

I voted: Awesome.

There isn't much not to like... ok, maybe the front is oddly designed and I'd like a big-ol'-headlight up there... but its a great experienced rider bike, lots of engine power, very well priced, "lighter" weight for a 900cc, has good range and could be quite comfortable for those with the right height/inseam.

It's better than bad, it's good!

Your Coolness Factor of the 2018 Kawasaki Z900

Awesome 6+1
Cool 3+1
Uncool 0
Fail 0+1

Total votes: 12

= a Coolwall Factor of 80.6%

Total Motorcycle's Take-a-way: Great debate this week on our latest Cool Wall bike, the 2018 Kawasaki Z900! I only had 1 uncool/fail vote, which is surprising, but you can't please them all. High points: Really, everything. Low points: Headlight pod, maybe riding position for some body types. A 80.6% is a really good score, well done Kawasaki! For those curious if we didn't get that 1 fail vote, the new 2018 Kawasaki Z900 would have been our #2 Coolest Bike of 2017 with a score of 87.9! With 80.6% it drops to 5th. So every vote counts, make sure YOU VOTE.
