I was just posting the news this morning (like every morning) in the Total Motorcycle News One forum and thought this would be of particular interest to our lady riders (see below)

Hundreds of women motorcyclists from around the country will converge on Gettysburg this June for the Mid-Atlantic Women's Motorcycle Rally.

The event will be held Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24, at the Gettysburg Days Inn on Route 30 and feature a guest speaker, parade, tattoo contest as well as seminars and workshops, among other things.

Carol Nelson, vice president of the Mid-Atlantic Women's Motorcycle Rally, said women motorcyclists from as far away as California, Michigan, North Carolina and Canada attend the rally, which averages about 350 participants each year.

"It's a yearly event for a lot of people," Nelson said. "We have a group from Michigan that comes down and a group from North Carolina."

The rally originated in Baltimore 14 years ago, but has only moved to Gettysburg within the past few years, Nelson said.

According to a press release, the event will allow participants to "attend both biker-related and non-biker related seminars, shop with special vendors, relax at biker bingo and party with each other in a true spirit of sisterhood and fun."

The Biker Games, a riding and handling contest that allows participants to demonstrate their skills, will also take place during the rally.

The rally will help raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The funds from the rally and other donations will be presented to representatives from the Susan G. Komen foundation at the finale banquet Saturday evening.

Last year's donations exceeded $20,000.
