It Finally Came Together!

#1 Unread post by LittleRedRider »

Just have to share with everyone the joy of a ride that everything finally jelled on! Because of work schedules, hubby & hadn't been able to ride for a couple weekends so I was really itching to go.
For once, the butterflies weren't too bad like they usually are after not riding for a couple of weeks.
From the time we pulled out of the driveway until we got home, even with wind and some rain showers, it was a ride that just clicked! I looked through my curves, leaned, held my lines, maintained speed, it felt so good.
Used some extra caution when we hit areas with wet roads, but didn't freak out or worry I couldn't do it.
I finally made the decision to trust my bike and myself and darn if it didn't work!
I think making that decision while somewhat subconscious, was the best thing I could do. I got out of my head a bit and just relaxed and it felt great! Considering the last time we were out doing practice stuff in a parking lot I got stupid, didn't pay attention and turned the handlebars too tight and dropped my bike - thankfully I was at almost a dead stop, just starting to roll down a slight incline - this ride was a vast improvement.
Just want to share the joy! :D

Oh yeah - there is NOTHING like being able to let go during a ride, now if you can learn to relax like that when you see a crash coming your way, you will fair better in that situation as well. Extra milk and cookies for you on milk and cookie day!!

This posting is why we ride, and why we love it - that feeling - so hard to explain to others...so fulfilling...so addictive.
Hope you have many many years of safe and wonderful years of riding.
