Ladies only? For a weekend?

#1 Unread post by Lion_Lady »

I suggested a ladies only gathering on another forum, expecting everyone was on the same page. Then one of the guys asked, "Gee, is this a "ladies only" event? To which a couple ladies replied, "Oh, I never ride without my hubby."

I was kind of surprised. I love riding with my hubby, but he sometimes makes me nuts.

It was pretty much ladies-only in Colorado. John wasn't interested in going, that's for sure. We are trying to increase his riding mileage this year, so it would be a question of time for me, with all the other rides we are trying to make.

Not sure how I feel about intentionally excluding guys. I have been on the opposite end of that plenty of times, and not sure I want to endorse it. It has been my experience, though, that when women are the primary population and the planners, that men aren't in a rush to join in. I think they imagine it will be kind of like wedding and baby showers.

Well it is called "The ladies Run of Colorado" but you see just as many dudes.

BTW it is coming again on July 10-11th (24th annual)

I'm pretty sure the Spouse Thingy wouldn't even want to tag along on what's supposed to be a ladies' only ride... I'd do one and wouldn't think twice about leaving him behind to fend for himself ;)

I much prefer riding with my hubby but I could be talked into a day ride without him... Hey, we all need to get away once and a while!

When we moved to the UK temporarily we both sold our bikes in Canada, and then only bought one over here. When we get back to Canada we will buy two again! :)

You're funny!!! I like your thinking! :D

Actually, we moved here for my job...and knowing that I'd be incredibly busy with it (and I am!) I decided I probably wouldn't have time to enjoy biking here. But we've been here a year and a half now and I'm really starting to miss having my own... :puzzled:
