High Heels

#1 Unread post by floatandtwirl »

I haven't seen anything about heeled boots, after looking at a few pages.
I need a few inches to get my heels down on the pavement, which is something I am getting used to. However, I would feel better with a firmer foot hold for situations like backing up, you know? I found a pair of boots that have a solid heel, good traction (Dr. Marten's Persephone). I've always ridden in Docs... But I'm worried about the heel catching or making me less secure rather than more so.
Looking for someone who has experience with riding in boots with a heel.

Thank you!

Your title says high heels.....Just how high are you talking about?

My boots have a heel that is about an inch and a half....the sole is about a half inch.

Wear a very sturdy pair if you are going to have a heel. I have the opposite problem. I usually don't have enough "leg room" lol. If it's in your budget, you might consider getting the bike lowered. Doc's heels are not always sturdy (I wear 30+ yr old shorty doc's ) , I'm not into brands, but Harley does make some decent heeled boots specifically for riding. Try some on, then look on eBay for them.

I've seen some heeled boots. Tourmaster, Icon, H-D ... I can't remember which companies made them, but I have seen them around. I can't help you with an actual ride report, sorry :/

The question is, why wear high heels at all? It is generally prohibited in a car. The heel slips - there will be trouble. Low is acceptable, but high heels are strongly discouraged for your own safety.
