rossi- yamaha46

#1 Unread post by ddoughty »

What is it about rossi and his yamaha? we all know he is 8 times world champion! The bike handles better than the rest I think-gets just the right grip, right amount of power to the ground, even at Indianapolis in rain, hail, or shine it makes ground. Stoners Ducati has the power "but" has a real problem with handling at times, the ducati suffers from pumping at times-why? Is it electronic clutch settings like a drag car clutch? Does the electronic settings influence things??
thanks Dazza

The ins & outs of MotoGP, the machines and the riders are so complex that I'm not even gonna ATTEMPT to answer this question.

All I'll say is all of the riders in MotoGP are incredibly talented, some more than others.

I'll also say that back in the day, the rider/bike equation used to be 80% rider, 20% bike, but things have changed... the bikes abilities aren't nearly as close to eachother anymore, even of the same make/model.... or on same team for that matter.... and some riders are able to exploit their bikes (even if it's an identical bike) more than others.

Valentino Rossi and Ricky Carmichael are both from another planet. It is somewhat similar to our moon. Just as our moon has a light side and a dark side, theirs has a paved side and an unpaved side. Rossie is from the paved side, Carmichael is from the unpaved side.

Seriously it's all Rossi....the race at Laguna 08 proved that point pretty clearly to all. He had no business winning that race and yet he did :tricycle2: showing Stoner it's not all about the machinery, hehe...

That's what makes motorcycle racing awesome to me. Sure, technology makes a difference but in the end, the rider still has a HUGE effect...mostly in the mental game which Rossi has in spades! Put one of us on his machine and take on somebody in the AMA for example....we'd be in last place, haha.

I guess we can go on and on about this, but why? Let's ride! :motorcycle:
