ATV's and helmet useage

#1 Unread post by BuzZz »

I hate to even walk past a bike or ATV without a lid, but I see sssoooo many people riding quads without them. I think people think that since it don't fall over when you let go, it must be safe..... Safe enough to put thier kids on with no lid and turn them loose. :frusty:

I've seen plenty of crushed helmets come off of intact heads to know rolling a quad over your melon, unprotected, is bad news. It don't seem like a great leap of logic to figure this out, but the number of bareheaded idiots out there seems to say different.

So, do you wear yours on your ATV???

Well, I seem to be aligned with 100% of the vote.....but at this point I am the only one who voted..... At my house everyone has a full round of helmets for every activity, and ever since my big concussion, they get worn. There are so many helmets here that I am going to have to dedicate a room to storage :?

When I die, it WONT be for a reason as stupid as not wearing a helmet. There are too many things I want to do in life before that.
-2005 Suzuki DRZ-400S (The Fast Color).
- FMF Power Core 4
- 3x3" Air Box Mod, DynoJet Kit
- Dunlop D606 Tires
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather--who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car

I would have to ride an ATV so I can wear a helmet on one.

Well since you got the helmet already, you should be riding them. Sorta seems like a waste, otherwise, Eh?

well i guess ill take the risk of being the first to say i dont wear a helmet when i ride mine. Or when i test ride them at work. But then again i havent got to do any serious riding yet, other then some trails around my neighborhood. I usually stick to the woods around my house though. I do have a full face helmet for my motorcycles that i always wear when riding them. No good reason why i dont wear them on the ATV,.....just a bad habit i guess

Actually, if you roll an ATV, 75% of the time the bike itself will crush you, breaking multiple bones and sometimes even killing you!, but i guess it would protect your head, but you should wear armour as well (avoid breaking ribs)

You know, I should, but as was mentioned, bad habit I suppose, since I use mine for hunting mostly, I guess the "excuse" would be that I cant aim with a helmet. Not a good one, Ill be wearing it next time I go. thanks!
