2006 Suzuki Eiger Broken Frame

#1 Unread post by MotoF150 »

I busted off the front bumper, sub-frame on my 2006 Suzuki Eiger 4x4, I was pushing shale in my driveway with the plow and the front frame assem. that holds the winch mount busted off in 4 places, I removed the plow and the winch and found out that sub frame bolts on to the main frame from the bottom to the front rack, the 3/4" steel tubes are ripped apart and I need new steel tubes. I found 3/4" steel tubing at Tractor Supply, so now im going to remove the sub-frame and make new tubes and weld them on, im looking at some ways to reinforce that front frame so it never cracks off again, thinking about welding on some 1/4" steel diamond plate between the steel tubes, im going to have fun doing this, bending and welding steel tubing just like they do on those chopper bike shows on TV. I have both a full size stick welder and a 110 volt mig, expert at both, plus I found a long spring that fits perfect inside the steel tubing so I can bend it without kinking it, the only thing I don't have is a steel chop saw but I have a air die grinder with cut off blades and a electriric grinder.

Pffft. It wouldn't have happened to a belt drive machine.

it broke cause I abused it, being a gear drive that machine will push a mountain outta the way when a belt drive will slip when you need to push something heavy, I ended up welding everything with the mig on low power cause the walls of the tubing was so thin and that Gorilla Winch I have on the front is just too powerfull and that added to pulling apart the frame. You have to understand I had 6 tons of 2B shale stone dumped in one big pile and that was a big job to push around with a 400cc atv, I mean a D7 Dozer would even have a hard time pushing it.
