Need some inside informations

Hello guys/galls,

just discovered this forum and wanted to say hi to all of you and to ask few questions about bikes.

OK, here we go.

I am looking to buy me a bike. Something used, cheap, with or without some damages etc... what can I fix.

Started to research about some web sites that sell salvage bikes, like:
www.ridesafely.com web site.
But, don't know is that trustworthy web site and did you guys have any experience with this guys before??

If you didn't have any with this site, did you use somebody else??

How can I find informations how to find a bike that's for sale from insurance agency??
If you did something like that before guys do you mind sharing some informations with me??

I am living in Jamestown, NC and don't know much about this business with insurance agencys.
Have seen few bikes arround that people sells them, like flood damage and repairable salvage, etc... but no one will share any informations with me. No one will let me know where did they bought them from, etc...



So, I need your help.

I can't help you with your area specifically but my current ride was an insurance write-off that I bought from a damaged bike dealer.
The insurance company simply uses a middle man to sell the bike for them at the highest price they can get in order to recoup their losses. I doubt you can buy bikes from the ins companies themselves.
As long as you do your homework first regarding how much it will cost you to fix the damage and get it back on the road, it can't be easier.
I avoided straight out auctions because of the rush of the blood to the head thing.
