Here's a thought for you Tx... since you rode dirt bikes you have some experience on two wheels. While you are out doing your sitting, rest the buns on a Suzuki V-Strom 1000, just for giggles. It's a big, tall bike, upright position, made to handle some limited off-roading (as in dirt roads). I guess it's what is called an "adventure tourer", perhaps. You may like it given your dirt bike past. I'm not recommending it as a bike you should think about getting right away, just saying it's something you may want to look at down the road. :)

I am right about your size, I am 6'4" and 230lbs. I have been doing a lot of looking and "talking" with different folks on different forums and despite what a few dissenters say...I came to the conclusion that folks OUR size do not need to get 1000+cc bikes because we are on the large size!

I just picked up a 2003 Suzuki Volusia yesterday and I am TOTALLY comfortable on it...and it's 100% stock. If I decide I want to move the controls forward, there is a kit that will move them about 3", but I don't think I need it. I'll ride for a while before I decide about that.

Now for the kicker...that bike is "only" an 805cc bike, and it moves just great! I am a beginner in EVERY sense of the word, and I think there's too much potential for getting myself into trouble with a 1liter+ bike. Plus, the Volusia "looks" like it could be a 1500 (or at least I keep telling myself that!) :-)

Ride safe!
