750 honda no spark

750 honda no spark

I have a 1974 honda 750 with no spark. Any ideas where to start. The motor spins but no spark , tried other plugs,thanks

start with the points, i had a cb360 with stuck points and no sparky. if they are clean and open/close freely when the motor spins check for power going to the coil(s)

Found the points and they spark, what else could it be .

There should be a condenser (also called a capacitor) in the circuit. Check that. If your local shop doesn't have the equipment to do so you may have to just buy a new one and install it. Check wiring to the coil, and from the coil to the spark plug. If all wires are okay, check the coil primary and secondary windings. Most manuals will give impedence for both.

i ahve a 1981 750 and i wasnt getting spark until i tapped the coil with a small box wrench.
