i was on my previous bike. i wanted to learn to go fast on it on both corners and straights.

lot of people diss straight speed but there is art in having a great start as well as pushing each gear to each limit in the shortest amount of time.

and it's already obvious why people like cornering. no need to state how awesome it is.

i know in nevada there is also a speed test area.

but im not interested on top speed right now since i now have 750 and not a 1000.

No... but I'm planning to take my bikes out to the local dry lake once I have some better safety gear and some spotters.

I'm fortunate to live near a natural high speed raceway... El Mirage Dry Lake. El Mirage has seen a lot of Land Speed Racing since the 1940s... the real, classic, original hotrods used to go out there to race too. They run record attempts and vintage drag racing there from time to time. In addition to a marked 1.3 mile section for land speed record attempts, it is a 6 mile by 10 mile slab of dead flat perfectly smooth ground with no speed limits. I usually take my cars out there to see how fast they'll really go... you just get onto this slab of dried mud and open it up and roll along as fast as you want...

What is really cool is that it is open to everyone... you can use it as a runway for airplanes, drive your street car or your supersonic land speed racer, motorcycles, city buses... anything you want.

If you want corners, you can mark off a section with cones to have your own little track (though you shouldn't take over the whole thing if there are a lot of others running around on it).

And it is free! :D

i live in the valley so it's either less than 70 or more depending on which direction.

either way... that's something i can easily mange if it is only around 70 miles.

might go there sometime and maybe we can go riding.

From Burbank it is about 90 miles...
From Simi Valley, closer to 105... those are approximate of course.

Yes, we should go ride... though I'm looking at a business trip to Dallas soon so who knows when I'll be able to. :(
