i was riding my bike then i lost power.

good thing this didn't happen in a corner.

my gas light warining was up but i figured i still have a lot.

anyway... i pushed the bike until i reached a gas station.

but the thing is... the pump stopped at only 2.8 gallons. my full tank is supposed to be 4.5 gallons.

im gonna call the dealer on this.

If a bike just sudedenly dies, it's most likely an electrical problem like a loose ground wire on the battery.

i haven't put the TRE yet.

and i only modified the shifter. it's not electrical just a simple mechanical mod.

also, after i put gas... the bike was normal again.

anyway... the dealer said the mileage i got was normal, around 120 miles.

but why did the pump stop at 2.8 gallons only?

they said they'll look at it. he was alos saying that maybe the tank only holds 3.2 gallons but in the suzuki website it says 4.5 gallons.

actually on my manual it says only 4.1 gallons for the CA model.

still, the pump shouldn't have stopped at 2.8 gallons.

The pump stops automatically because it's designed for car gas tanks. You need to physically LOOK in the tank and see if it's full ...

damn!

from now on, i'll put gas every 100 miles.

this is scary stuff.

i shudder to think what could have happened if i was in the middle of a corner or in the freeway for that matter.

this never happened to me before on the 1000.

yeah, it doesn't look full when i lifted the pump but i was scared of spilling gas so i always never put more.

now that i think about it... 120 / 2.8 = 42.8

that does sound normal mileage. maybe i really could fit 1 more gallon into the tank even after the pump stopped already.

If it is a vapor recovery nozzle you must pull back the foreskin and watch as the fuel flows then stop pumping when the tank is full. Otherwise you'll get 2.8 gallons in a 4.1 gallon tank.

120 miles!
Ride it like you think owning it matters.
