I'd have to agree that actually checking your tank to see if it is full would be a good idea. I wouldn't worry about overfilling your tank as it would be hard to do. I almost filled my ex250 all the way to the top, literally, and gas didn't come pouring out the gas cap. It was also late winter/early spring, but you get the point.

It didn't have anything to do with it being a bad bike, it was just that he wasn't putting as much gas in the tank as it can hold.

complete and total BS. My CX500 had to be switched to reserve around 80 miles, you think 120 mile fillups are annoying try 80 mile fillups. Of cousre my CX500 only had a 2.8 gallon tank and you had to go to reserve after it used up 2 gallons of that.

I have an unequivicably stupid question.

When you fill the tank... do you shove the whole nozzle down into the tank like you would a car and fill until it stops itself?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

yeah, i had to shove it since it won't pump if it's not shoved in.

but like diez said... i should just manually pull the foreskin of the pump for better fill up results.

lesson learned.

i was worried that something's wrong w/ the bike. im glad it's just me being dumb.

I pull the whole nozzel out, so just the tip (the head, if we continue the pencil metaphor) is inside the opening (we could keep going with this metaphor...) and let it fill up the tank until I see it's full, or run out of money.

My bike has a little marker by the edge of the hole (to continue the metaphore) that indicates then the tank is full.

Yo verm... pull the handle in lightly and you will be able to let go before it over flows... don't stop filling until you can actually see the gas in your tank near the top.
