T.V. Shows

So after a fun filled evening of getting mocked by the guys when they were rifling through the tivo at my house, I figure I'll ask everyone here what tv shows they tend to catch on a regular basis.

Thanks to tivo there are three shows I tend to catch on a regular basis
Gilmore Girls...yes yes go ahead mock away, but it's funny
Coupling...not the crappy American version, but the Brit one!
and yes I've now become addicted to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Ever since my TV broke 9 months ago (when I moved house), I've never gotten around to replacing it.
BECAUSE shock horror ( ) I simply don't miss it (was a surprise to me too).

It gives me more time to ride, and read books, and general sort stuff out. The only show I will admit to vaguely missing however is Futurama

TiVo is two things - a god sent and the ultimate evil. I will expand. Since I have had TiVo I no longer watch commercials - at all. I also never channel surf through stupid things to find nothing is on. On the bad side there is always something on the TV. In the old days I would think "There's nothing on, I'll go do something else." Now if I sit down to watch TV I most likely will not leave for a while. In reality I am busy and don't want my "lazy time" wasted watching ads on TV or any show I didn't choose.

So after all that disclaimer - Third Watch has become a new favorite of mine and has a parking place on my TiVo season pass (record all episodes to the non-TiVo world). I also record almost every one of the animated "grown-up" comedies, but actually delete all but my favorite ones (you know The Simpson, Futurama, Aqua-Teen Hunger Force. I also did the Star Trek Next Generation thing, which is on the cable channel Spike two episodes per day, in order. They actually wore me out on that one by having the episodes two per day. I'm very fond of Seconds from Disaster, Air Emergancies, Mega-Structures, and that kind of stuff. I build my TiVo record list every once in a while with a bunch of those shows.

I also built this custom search for shows that have the word motorcycle in their name or description. I've found some great old episodes of shows I never would have seen. Andy Griffith - Barney gets a bike with a sidecar so he can do highway patrol. The Waltons - Jim Bob becomes a motorcycle racer. Dick Van Dyke - Rob (the main character) gets a little foreign bike and meets up with a bike gand. King of Queens - main character gets a bike. That 70s Show - Red gets a motorcycle. Once a month or so I'll find one of these little gems with my TiVo search.

TV sucks, and I salute those who are free. I'm weak and sad and if you aren't down TVaholic road, stay clear. I also think TiVo is a TV addicts enabling partner (if you get my meaning). It basically makes you watch more TV, since everything on TV is what you want to see. I am one of these addicts. I guess I'm what you'd call a functioning addict though. I get work done, I ride my motorcycle, I play with my kids, but I like to have a couple hours here and there to just soak in some brain candy. The b00btube lives on. Long live the b00b.

You need to utilize and prioritize your time better. Reading books could be done during those times you are sitting in the bathroom. That would free up some of your time for other things, like TV. Just think of all the wonderful political speeches you have missed.

I'm a bit differnt... like I need to tell you guys.

If I'm home, the tv is on constantly. I may or may not be paying attention to it. But it is always on.....

What I do watch is most any documentery... machinery and warfare based ones in particular.

And cartoons. I still love toons. Especially the adult ones, like Simpsons, Futurama and the like. And I never heard anyone but me admit to even seeing Aquateen Hunger Force before, Scanner. But I watch it too. You probably don't get Kevin Spencer down there, but if you do happen across it, have a look. It is great, in a very Non P.C., chain-smoking, alcholic, sociopath kinda way.

Doctor Who, Red Dwarf and Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy are still great, even for the 63rd time. The new Hitchhickers Movie looks to be one I might actually go to a theater to see.

And for some wierd reason, I really enjoy the Antiques Road show and Bargin Hunt. Funny thing is, I have no desire to collect the stuff or own any of it for any reason, I just like the shows..... I like shiny new crap, not old, worn out junk.

I wish they would bring Futurama back.Compared with all the crap new shows which probaly cost 3 times as much to make.And Matt Groeing would like to bring in Back.

My fav are Simpsons,Futurama,Red Dwarf,Blackadder and Las Vegas.

Does anybody actually watch "Growing Up Gotti" and "Dog, Bounty Hunter?" They are the worst shows on TV, I think. Caricatures of human beings, and poor ones at that.

I lean toward Law & Order, all of them except Trial by Jury and Criminal Intent, CSI Vegas and Miami, City confidential and American Justice. Can't help it, was married to a cop for 20 years. And most things on the History Channel.

I have a T.V. I have no service, though (No cable, no satellite.) I live in the mountains, so that means I also can't get the local channels with the antenna. My T.V. gets used only for movie rentals. I can also honestly say I don't miss watching T.V. Not a bit. Not one show. I'd rather hang out on TMW.

Seriously though, I'll probably never have television again. I'd rather ride, play with my kids, read, talk to my wife, surf the web, anything but watch T.V.
