Here's something for I, Fly to ponder...

Ok, so on the way to work today, I'm sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on a large divided highway, three lanes each way. So I'm sitting there, and see a cop on his cop motorcycle riding in the opposite direction that I am facing. Now, you would think that would mean he was riding on the other side of the road, with that traffic. But, alas, you'd be wrong. He was riding on the SIDEWALK closest to me. So, not only was he going the wrong way, he was also cruising down the sidewalk. Now, if it's illegal to ride a bicycle down a sidewalk, then it's got to be like ten kinds of illegal to ride a motorcycle on a sidewalk...

Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, I almost saw a teenage girl get t-boned by a semi today. She pulled out right in front of the truck, to cross the road, and go in the opposite direction. I was right behind the truck, and got a nice wiff of the smoke from his tires as he locked his brakes to avoid hitting her. Luckily, I was following at the appropriate distance, and was able to safely slow down without having to lock my own brakes.

Out looking for cops, so he can decide whether they're good cops or not?

Police vehicles in most states, if not all, have license plates which exempt them from traffic laws when responding to something or go somewhere in the performance of their duties. Police vehicles don't always have to use lights and sirens to respond to a situation...

Glad you rode with your head on your shoulders... although your bike will stop in a much shorter distance than a semi will.
We're the first ones to starve
We're the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie in the sky
But we're always the last
When the gravy's shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about

Ok I didn't see I Fly's cop bashing post but seriously, that was a long time ago. Why are ya'll still ragging on him? It's not even the good-natured ribbing that Verm gets.

As already mentioned Cops have particular rights as pertains to their job. But since they are human also (of course I've seen some exceptions to this rule) Of course I have seen some of them abuse their privileges.

Glad to hear that you didn't get involved w/the mishap in front of you.
