jmillheiser wrote:complete and total BS. My CX500 had to be switched to reserve around 80 miles, you think 120 mile fillups are annoying try 80 mile fillups. Of cousre my CX500 only had a 2.8 gallon tank and you had to go to reserve after it used up 2 gallons of that.
That sounds about right. I am getting about 6 miles to the litre, but only seem to have a two and a half Gal tank (Imp)

Full tank to refill is under the 80 mile mark.

Add that to a picture of him pushing it down the road and the smile would never leave my face.

That is gold!

TechTMW wrote:Yeah Gompers, they have a bellows type of device on the nozzle (Sortof looks like fork gaiters) and it must be pressed against the tank so that when you are finished pumping gas, the bellows creates vacuum which sucks up fuel vapors back into the underground fuel tank.

Completely motorcycle unfriendly but good for the environment...

Thanks for the info. We have the same type of nozzles here, but apperantly they don't work. They don't have to be seated against the tank at all. You can wave the nozzle around all you want and spray gas all over. If you were so inclined to do that.

I ran out of gas the first weekend I had my spirit..... I knew from the past though that most gas stations in NY anyway have the vapor cutoff, but I usually pull it back.... Unfortunately I only get about 120 before the reserve, so now I know around 100 start looking for gas....

On my Virago 1100, I go looking for a gas station around 185kms, (around 115 miles,) although I have gone over 210 kms (130 miles) before filling, biting my nails all the way to the gas station. (My reserve switch has never seemed to work. It's electric and the reserve is a separate tank under the left side cover...)

Hey, at least it was just a bike. Years ago I ran out of gas in my truck (thinking - I'll stop at the next station, I have just enough) in the middle of an intersection. Imagine one guy, pushing a truck, then trying to get it up the little hill into the parking lot.

To top it off, no one helped until I had it up over the hill and rolling on a flat surface away from the parking lot entrance
