This past weekend I was in the area of a Triumph dealer. They happened to have all the cruiser and modern classics in stock (the ones I am interested in), as well as a few sport bikes.
Got to sit on a Bonneville, a Bonnie T100, a Scrambler 900, a Thruxton 900, and the America and Speedmaster cruisers, as well as a Rocket III (HUGE bike!!!). Also had a Speed III (yowza - bada$$!!!).
Wow. What awesome bikes.
I have been interested in the Thruxton 900 because I love the cafe-racer styling. I was a bit unsure about how it would FEEL sitting on one, however, because of the low handlebar position.
I had nothing to worry about. I'm a bigger guy (6'4" tall) and I didn't feel stretched out at all. I think initially there may be some minor wrist "pain" as I get used to the bike, but all in all it was very comfortable.
If I were buying a cruiser, I'd definately get the Speedmaster. Way cool bike. Nice styling, good looks.
I'm hooked on Triumph. Can't wait for their '07 line to come out. I'll be getting one early next year! You can't beat their pricing.
I'd love a Harley - really I would. But I can get so much more bike for less money with a Triumph. And - technically - it's "english made"!
Thanks for reading my ramblin'!

I wave to everyone...I don't give a flyin' 'f what you are riding.
I check them out earlier this year...I really liked the looks of the Thruxton....until I sat on one....it did not feel right to me. I also really liked the old school looks of bikes...
Out of the box, the modern Triumph vertical twins are a bit strangled due to noise and emissions regulations. They sound like sewing machines and are tame. But there are ........ermmmmmm...... simple modifications that will give them much more of the flavor of the classic Triumphs. Properly modified, they rock!
I have been considering getting a Triumph also. I'm looking for a Triumph dealer here in Indiana so I can go and sit on some. I love the look of H-D, but new or old, they don't make anything in my price range except the Sportster 883. I also like the look of the Moto Guzzi (I think its the Nevada, or something like that).
