its possible...just not easy. It will take a lot of dedication as far as workout routines, lifting and diet.

But it is worth it in my opinion. I feel much better physically and mentally when I regularly work out and/or play sports.

Verm, don't worry about the weight, just worry about the fitness. If you are strong, agile, and have endurance, who gives a crap about how much you weigh.

It happens that I fall under the "easy gainer" catagory. I was trying to lose weight by working out, but ended up gaining 15 lbs of muscle... then I stopped working out and started playing soccer + volleyball more, but the weight never went away... but some of it shifted into fat :(

I just need to eat less... haha. I am concerned about it mainly due to volleyball. Even with stronger legs, it is a lot harder for me to jump high at 230lbs than it was at 180-190. I still manage about a 30 inch vertical, but I used to hit 38-40 consistently. I hit a helluva lot harder than I used to.. but I have a lot more weight to throw into it now too. It just gets hard on the knees :frusty: I played club volleyball in highschool, and I ended up playing for my college before classes got too busy. Now I just play intramural sports.

I just hate running for a long time!! I used to be a sprinter in highschool, but I always hated running for more than 400 yards... haha. Soccer is good because it forces me to run longer.

I figure as long as I keep my sports up, I won't get too out of shape.

30 inch vertical?
That's crazy. Unless my idea of a vertical is a little different than yours....
No lifting up feet or anything; just a jump straight up, legs straight, blah blah blah...

Still...that's crazy lol

yeah, that is the definition of a vertical jump ;)

I wish I was like George Roumain (played for Pepperdine and played in the olympics). That beast was 6'7, over 250 (more like 265 on a normal day) and still jumped about 40 inches (I think it was a bit under, like 38 or something, but he is huge!!)! Plus, he was one of the hardest hitters in the world... the guy is amazing.

12 oz. curls. (after the ride that is!)
When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

a 30" vertical isnt unheard of especially for athletes however its good, especially for a larger sized guy. I'm not quite that high tho workin on it.

I've been going to the gym for a few weeks now but havn't started losing my gut. I've been doing 10-15 minutes of cardio (bicycle + rowing machine [that's the 5 extra minutes]) then doing both the upper body and lower body circuits doing 10 reps on the highest possible setting (going down a few weights if I can't finish the 10). Then finishing up with either racketball or another 5 minutes of cardio. This is pretty much the schedule I did with my dad every day for one summer (I went from 250 down to 175lbs) and it also helped that he pretty much starved me (health nut with not much room for criticism). That was 3 years ago, since then I've gone up and down between 185 and 215. When I last weighed in I was at 220 (right after finishing up all my Easter candy) so I decided to go back to the gym. Hopefully when I get my motorcycle it'll help me get into shape like a portable sauna (last winter here in SC was pretty much summertime in WA). I'd be at the gym tonight but it's pouring down rain and I have to drive 15 miles to get to the AFB gym (it's free).

stabilize your diet. Thats the biggest thing. Watch alcohol too.

But the last few pounds is the HARDEST to lose...I still cant get rid of the last 5-10 before everything is completely lean

haha a vertical jump isn't about bending your legs; it's about vertical reach. anyway, i'm in the process of getting my license, and i've been riding around a lot lately. the first thing i noticed was after getting off the motorcycle, my forearms, lower back, and various other muscles were quite fatigued. now, i'm 20 yrs old and in excellent shape, but i have to admit that riding did take a lot out of me. so, i've started biking hardcore in my backyard to prepare myself for motorcycling and it's helped. not only do i not feel fatigued anymore, but i also feel i have better control over my machine, as well.
