i think the old addage- "its not wrong till you get caught" applies.

i dont make a practice of lane splitting but on occasion i have been known to (esp. if theres not turn lane to turn right at a stop light i split the curb and traffic to turn on red) i live in TN

And I thought it was legal everywhere. I've been to 48 states, minus Alaska and Maine, and the only other place I'd rather live in the US than here in Northern California is Southern California. Just one more thing to appreciate about living here.

American Motorcycle Association has a nifty little page that'll tell you all the motorcycle laws of each state in the US:

Go check it out!

I wish it was legal here in TX but last I've heard the bill was shot down.

If there was a way to prove that lane splitting wasn't as dangerous as people think it is, that'd be nice.

But something about a motorcycle passing within a huge gap between one car and the next just makes people angry/nervous/whatever.
Have fun on the open /¦\

There's more to this site than just the message board.

I know, I was surprised too.

interesting, that little sheet implies exactly what i thought, it is not referenced in the motorcycle law digest printed by the state of ohio.
