You've never ridden for a summer in Phoenix. If you put on the full crash suit with armor and ride around town for an hour, you'll be very close to heat stroke. If you can't cool by evaporation of sweat, you can get in trouble fast. Basically, if you cover up, you'll cook.

Even though the weather bureau says it's 107 degrees out, that's in the shade and not over sun heated asphalt. I went flying the other day and my wing mounted temperature probe was reading 135 degrees, three feet above the asphalt, out in the sun. The official temp was 107.

The bedouin tribes in the middle eastern deserts keep cool by covering up, but they're not walking around on sun-baked asphalt with a hot motorcycle engine between their legs.
That makes sense, all my motorcycle knowledge is just theory

I almost feel cooler when I wear my textile jacket.. It is perforated with all kinds of holes, not only does my body heat transfer to the jacket and then get blown away off the surface of the jacket, the wind comes through the holes and cools the skin directly.

I live in florida where during the summer it is in the 90's and is 99.9% motherforking humidity (just low enough not to rain until you want to go swimming...then it pours), so I know a little something about sweating.

I almost always wear my textile armored jacket, fullface and gloves. They all breathe very well, and having ridden without my jacket and gloves once or twice, I can honestly say that the heat difference is minimal, and barely noticable. I just need liquid cooling for my seat.. then all would be right in the world. haha

Of course, it is still freaking hot at stoplights.

Not saying my way is right for everyone, just chiming in with my personal habits and thoughts for comparison.

Also, I have ridden ATV's and dirt bikes in the desert before out in Palm Springs, Ca...and HOLY CRAP, I lost at least 10 lbs in sweat. I used to live out in SoCal, so I know what you are saying about that Pheonix heat, Flynrider. I still think my particular jacket would work as long as I would be moving though. We just used to go from ice-skating rinks to water parks in the summer when we went to palm springs.

Divide, what textile do you have?

I live down here in Texas and reckon that I'll be needing one of those eventually.

It's hot as balls outside currently. And it's night time..

MAN...that really helps alot. We've been over 100degrees the past few days. Heck, I should just wet them in the shower and head out drippin.
This actually works pretty good underneath a jacket with vents. I've been forced to "dip the shirt in the creek" before and it works great.

Joe Rocket something or another... ballistic or atomic or something... lol. I think all of the Joe Rocket mesh is the same, just go try some out. It would be best if you could go for a ride while wearing one to see the difference, but that might be tricky unless a friend has one.
