Hand signals

#1 Post by Shorts » Wed Jun 14, 2006 1:36 pm

I know riders use hand signals to communicate with other riders and folks on the road. Unfortunately, I won't be able to spare a hand to use hand signals. Is there another acceptable way to communicate or answer back to other riders who do use hand signals?

just nod when someone waves at you.

i just nod when im going >90mph or when im in the middle of a corner.

i also just nod at intersections since i cover the clutch and leave her in 1st gear instead of neutral.

Why can't you spare the hand? Besides if I see a rider in a full lean, I'm not going to be heart broken if they don't wave back.
Honda, Harley , Kawasaki. Two wheels are two wheels...watch out for your fellow riders.

Yep, only have one good arm now. So, unless I get a throttle lock and learn to pose, I can't really let go. (I'm kidding)

As far as the nodding, I figured as much for saying hello, and I guess for acknowledging another riders request (passing, mauevering and sharing the road), nods would be ok.

I would just hate to be a jerk and have someone get impatient or mad if I don't signal right away. Especially if I'm in front and need to signal to those behind me.

worry more about yourself especially since you'll just be starting and have a handicap. you need all the attention you can use to more important matters.

once you get more comfy w/ the bike... you'll have more attn pts to spare for stuff like signals. :D
